Wilder Than Wild Film Screening and Panel - Kings Beach

May 16th, 2019

North Tahoe Fire, Meeks Bay Fire and the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities are hosting two screenings for the award-winning documentary Wilder than Wild; Fire, Forests and the Future at the Homewood Mountain Resort North Lodge on June 6, 2019, and a second viewing will be held at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach on June 13, 2019.

Wilder than Wild is a one-hour documentary that reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed Western landscapes to large, high intensity wildfires. The film goes on to explore strategies that are being developed to help mitigate the impact of California’s changing wildfires.

The screenings in North Tahoe are part of a larger effort to engage communities in conversations about the future of wildfire and actions that can be taken now to protect lives and homes. A panel featuring speakers from North Tahoe Fire, Meeks Bay Fire, Cal Fire, United States Forest Service, Placer County Office of Emergency Services, Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Liberty Utilities and the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities will follow the screenings.

North Tahoe Fire, Meeks Bay Fire and the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities are committed to building community awareness about prevention and mitigation strategies in this new age of wildfire, where fire season is longer, more deadly and destructive. The film copy was purchased and donated by the North Tahoe Ladies’ Auxiliary, and use of the venues are being donated by Homewood Mountain Resort and the North Tahoe Public Utility District to allow for these events to be free and open to the public.
