Wilder Than Wild Film Screening and Panel - South Lake
June 20th, 2019The USDA Forest Service, Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities, and Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team are hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests and the Future at Taylor Creek Visitor Center on June 28, 2019 from 7:00-9:00 PM. The screening will take place in the outdoor Lake of the Sky Amphitheater. Taylor Creek Visitor Center is located 3 miles north of the City of South Lake Tahoe on Highway 89, look for the entrance sign on the north side of the road. The event is free and open to the public.
Wilder than Wild is a one-hour documentary that reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed Western landscapes to large, high intensity wildfires. The film goes on to explore strategies that are being developed to help mitigate the impact of California’s changing wildfires.
The screening in South Tahoe is part of a larger effort to engage communities in conversations about the future of wildfire and actions that can be taken now to protect lives and homes. A panel discussion including forest management experts, public land management agencies, local fire districts, local law enforcement, Liberty Utilities, and the Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities will accompany the screening.
