Upcoming workdays for Tahoe’s Fire Adapted Communities

August 14th, 2025

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. – The Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities is approaching its 100th Fire Adapted Community!  A Fire Adapted Community, under the guidance of a neighborhood leader, works together to reduce the neighborhood’s risk from wildfire collectively. By hosting defensible space workdays, sharing wildfire preparedness tips, and preparing “go bags” and evacuation plans, these communities are boosting their resiliency against wildfire. Fire Adapted Communities can also work towards Firewise status, a national recognition program.

Funded by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA) and facilitated by the Tahoe Resource Conservation District, Fire Adapted Communities have access to free defensible space inspections and curbside chipping services, courtesy of their local fire agency.
